Cesta

Cesta, or the ‘Way,’ is a series of abstract paintings that I have been cultivating for several decades. These pieces feature seemingly chaotic splashes, drips, and smears that I created spontaneously while working on my sculptural pieces. I was fascinated by the designs that emerged and began to preserve them. Despite the spontaneity of the process, I maintained a level of control by carefully rotating several pieces over the years to regulate the colour of the natural castoffs. The resulting layered abstract gestural work highlights the art-making process and represents the culmination of my four-decade-long career.
